Mora

Mora, the county seat of Kanabec County, is a small city deeply proud of its Swedish heritage, which is reflected in many of its most interesting landmarks and traditions. As of the 2020 census, Mora has a population of approximately 3,665 residents, maintaining a welcoming, dense suburban feel that appeals to families and retirees alike. The town's connection to its namesake in Sweden is unmistakable: visitors are greeted by the sight of the largest Dala horse in the U.S., a towering 25-foot statue, and the distinct Mora Klocka (Bell Tower). This heritage is celebrated annually through the Vasaloppet USA, Minnesota's largest cross-country ski race, which draws thousands of participants and spectators each February. Beyond its Swedish identity, Mora is known for being a hub for outdoor recreation, featuring a popular Aquatic Center, and hosting events like the Snake River Canoe Race and the Mora Half-Marathon, truly earning its motto, "A City For All Seasons."
